The Introduction to Cybercrimes course is a comprehensive 30-hour micro-credential designed to equip entry-level learners with a foundational understanding of the various types of cyber crimes, associated risk factors, and how cyber crime is investigated and prevented. The Micro Credential program will be delivered using a hybrid delivery model including:

  • Synchronous instructor-led sessions
  • Asynchronous self-paced e-learning and assignments

The total of 30 hours will be delivered over 3 weeks, with 10 hours per week, as outlined below:

What are Micro-Credentials?

Who are these courses intended for?

Are the courses offered online or in person?
Courses follow a hybrid delivery model that includes live instructor-led sessions (synchronous) and self-paced online modules (asynchronous). Some programs may include in-person sessions where applicable.
Do I need prior experience or education to enroll?
No prior experience is required unless otherwise stated. Each course is structured to support learners at an entry-level and build foundational knowledge.
Will I receive a certificate upon completion?
Yes. Students who successfully complete all course requirements, including the final assessment, will receive a Certificate of Completion and may be eligible for job placement support.
How are assessments conducted?
Assessment methods include:

• Auto-graded quizzes and tests (via Canvas or LMS)
• Scenario-based written assessments
• Final knowledge tests (typically 90 minutes)
• Participation in hands-on labs or assignments
Are these courses recognized by employers or government bodies?

Module 1: Introduction

Includes: Overview of the cyber world, common cybercrimes, and group discussion

Module 2: Investigating Cybercrimes
Estimated Hours: 3 hrs
Includes: Role of law enforcement, civil and international investigations, and discussion on investigative approaches

Module 3: Hardware of Cyber Criminals
Estimated Hours: 3 hrs
Includes: Basics of computer systems, data storage methods, and their role in cybercrime with discussion

Module 4: Networking
Estimated Hours: 3 hrs
Includes: Computer communication, networking speed, policy frameworks, and discussion-based analysis

Module 5: Hacking
Estimated Hours: 3 hrs
Includes: History of hacking, famous and modern hackers, and interactive discussion on hacking culture

Module 6: Malware
Estimated Hours: 3.5 hrs
Includes: Types of malware, malware writers, and structured class discussion

Module 7: Intellectual Property Violations
Estimated Hours: 3.5 hrs
Includes: Digital piracy, profiles of digital pirates, and discussion on intellectual property rights

Module 8: Fraud & Other Economic Crimes
Estimated Hours: 3 hrs
Includes: Economic crime types, identity theft, and discussion on real-world case studies

Module 9: Sexual Crimes
Estimated Hours: 3 hrs
Includes: Exploration of online pornography and prostitution, with ethical and legal discussion

Module 10: Child Pornography Investigations
Estimated Hours: 3 hrs
Includes: Investigation of child pornography, child abuse cases, and understanding typologies with guided discussion

Final Assessment
Estimated Hours: 1 hr
Includes: Summative evaluation through auto-graded quizzes and instructor-marked scenario-based questions. Successful completion results in a digital credential.
